Squad Member Wins Blue Peter Hot Air Balloon Competition
April 12th 2018
A squad member from Carterton found herself walking on air when she was the lucky winner of a Blue Peter competition. Chloe came up with a design to go on the side of their 60th birthday hot air balloon and her design was chosen from over 8000 entries. Not only did she get to visit Cameron Balloons in Bristol to see the balloon being made, she also appeared on the live show in MediaCity, Salford with her heroes Lindsey and Radzi, as well as Alesha Dixon, where the finished balloon was finally unveiled. Lindsey spent months training to be a hot air balloon pilot before using Chloe's balloon to attempt a record breaking balloon flight. Lindsey's record attempt will be shown on Blue Peter in October.
As the live show was during training on a Thursday night, the squad got to watch it during their training session thanks to Debbie and her laptop!
Proud day for gymnasts at annual Club Championships
March 24th 2018
A wonderful day was had by all at the annual club championships. The gymnasts enjoyed the opportunity to show family and friends their skills as they competed within the club for medals on floor, bars, beam and vault. All the gymnasts impressed with their hard work and wonderful attitude. A big thank you to all the parents and volunteers who made the day happen.
Gymnasts were able to buy commemorative t-shirts listing the gymnasts names on the back and this raised lots of money for the club.
A Carterton gymnast, Tia, also had a fundraising stall with her friends selling pots of slime and they raised a wonderful £ 340 for the Neurological Special Nurses at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
