The countdown is on!

March 10th 2021

It's was another busy weekend at The Vault, and our raised platform for tumbling and vaulting into the pits is now built, carpeted and looking fabulous, ready for the kit to be installed next week.

We want to give a massive shout out to all the amazing volunteers who have been sacrificing their weekends to help us. We would not be doing this without you.

Special mentions go to Barry from ACE Training who has volunteered his time and expertise every weekend for months to get the raised platform constructed, the offices and toilets built and the ceilings on and boarded. A couple of his staff have also been in working hard alongside Barry as well as fitting our many doors. Still more to do, but you'll be able to put your feet up soon Barry! Also Colin, one of our coaches and adult gymnasts, who has worked really hard throughout this build process - thank you! Another mention goes to Paul of Affinity Structures for not only making sure everything we build is safe and up to standard, but also getting stuck in every weekend with a variety of tasks. We have had some wonderful help from our younger gymnasts too, who have spent hours painting and cleaning and generally helping out with great enthusiasm. Not to forget our wonderful director, Debra, who has been there from start to finish every single weekend, getting everyone organised and getting stuck into all the tasks, from painting and bricklaying, to laying carpet and the seemingly endless task of cleaning.

There are too many amazing people to mention everyone by name, but we are incredibly grateful to every single person who has given up their time to come and help. We are so proud of our gym family!

Major progress with the build! Lighting and heating on and the raised platform is being built.

February 15th 2021

We are so excited to announce that we now have heating, lighting, hot and cold running water and toilets in The Vault! The ceilings are on in the offices, kitchen and toilets and most of the walls are now painted.

Our amazing team of volunteers spent another long weekend working in The Vault, cleaning, painting and building. Huge progress was made building the raised platform for the main gym and underneath it hides a secret treasure trove of artwork, poems, pictures and quotes from our wonderful gymnasts - a snapshot of our club as we evolve.

We have been updating our supporter's page on the website, and it is a real testament to the support and generosity of the individuals and companies that have pitched in to make this amazing project a reality. We are so very grateful to you all - thank you.

Head Coach Debra honoured with a British Empire Medal in 2021 Queens New Years Honours

January 1st 2021

What a couple of years it has been for our remarkable Head Coach and Director, Debra Courtenay-Crane, culminating in the great honour of receiving a British Empire Medal (BEM), for services to gymnastics, in this years Queens New Years Honours list.

This comes not long after receiving the BBC Sports Personality Unsung Hero award for the South in December 2019, as well as the British Gymnastics Pat English Lifetime Achievement Trophy.

Debra has dedicated over 30 years of her life to gymnastics and Carterton Gymnastic Club and as we near the completion of work on our new home, The Vault, she looks set to realise her lifetime ambition to create and run a dedicated gymnastics and sports facility for the whole community.

It is so wonderful to see her decades of hard work being recognised, and we couldn't be prouder of her.

The Vault is open!!

April 12th 2021

It has been years in the planning, but thanks to the incredible hard work of Debbie and her team of volunteers, The Vault opened its doors today to welcome our gymnasts, both existing and new.

Debbie was surprised yesterday with a small opening ceremony to mark the occasion and was presented with a beautiful oak desk, inlaid with The Vault logo, hand-made by Wayne one of our very talented gym parents.

A purpose built venue has been Debbie's dream for the last 30 years and today is a very special day for all of those involved. The Vault will provide the perfect home for Carterton Gymnastic Club and will be here serving the people of Carterton and surrounding areas for years to come.

Well done and a massive thank you to everyone involved. Without everyone's contribution, no matter how big or small, we could not have done this!

Our new kit is being installed

March 17th 2021

We could not be more excited!

By the end of this week all the kit will be installed in our main gym. So far we have two vaults, a floor, the rings, pommel horse, a mushroom and the competition A bars! Lots and lots still to go. Big thank you to the RAF guys who helped get the rings up today. What will tomorrow bring?

12th April HERE WE COME!

February 23rd 2021

Today was a HUGE day for Carterton Gymnastic Club as our brand new kit was delivered on site at The Vault.

The timing was perfect, having found out last night that we would be able to open on the 12th April and welcome all our gymnasts, both existing and new, to this wonderful place.

It has taken 3 years of hard work, blood, sweat and tears, and an amazing team of volunteers to get to this point and we are so excited about what the future holds for the club and The Vault.

We have a very busy last few weeks to get everything ready but can't wait to get those doors open. See you then!

It’s been all hands-on deck, and the walls are flying up!

January 18th 2021

Debra and a team of volunteer builders and labourers have worked incredibly hard for the last couple of weekends creating our toilets, office spaces and kitchen. All the internal walls should be completed next weekend and then it is time for the ceilings to go on!

It is incredible to finally see the dream taking shape, and we are very grateful for the hard work and dedication of our volunteers. This is going to be such a fabulous space to train and socialise in and we can’t wait to see it full of gymnasts and members of the local community.

Want to get involved? Email us or give us a ring. We also still need help with finances for, or donations of, office and IT equipment, kitchen equipment, a mobile lifting hoist to assist disabled participants and a folding electric changing table.

Work is progressing well in The Vault and we would like to say a big thank you to the amazing volunteers who have given up their time at weekends and over the holiday to come and paint walls in gym two. It is looking wonderful.

The electricians and plumbers are back in today working hard to fit  lights and run pipework, and the toilet and office walls have been set out ready for building.

It really is such a great club to be a part of with so many people offering time and skills to help us achieve this wonderful facility for the community. We still have lots to do though, so if you can offer time, materials or construction skills please let us know. Thank you to all the Carterton Gymnastic Club members who have put their hearts and souls into this and deserve the very best facility to train in.
