Halloween Floor & Vault Competition Is Huge Success
October 31st 2021
On the 31st October we held our first ever club competition at The Vault and it proved to be a huge success.
With almost 190 children taking part on floor & vault and many spectators supporting their gymnasts, The Vault was buzzing. Director Debbie looked the part in her pumpkin outfit, and there were some spooky looking judges too!
It was a busy day for everyone involved but we all loved seeing the gymnasts performing and receiving their medals. A very big thank you to all our amazing volunteers.
The audience were entertained with demonstrations from our Allstars Cheerleading group, our Acro Dance team and our Sport Acro team. We also had a visit from the Allstars Oxford Brookes cheerleaders in the final session.
A big part of these competitions is to provide an opportunity for children to experience nerves and learn to handle them in a safe, supportive environment. We are so proud of those gymnasts who, with the support of their parents, faced their fears and overcame them.
Here is just some of the lovely feedback we received:
"Both our children had an amazing time and are just so over the moon that they won some medals—they feel so special and it’s so amazing to watch them flourish with the confidence boost it’s given them."
"He would not even stand up at the front of his class, but today, he got up and did his routine in front of lots of people, despite his nerves. I didn’t quite bank on the confidence growth gymnastics would give."
"My gymnast had a Wonderful time. It was great to see them do their routines and have fun. We really appreciate the time and effort put in to run this. Many thanks. Proud parents !"
"We can’t thank you enough for making my gymnast's first gymnastics competition such a wonderful experience. She was so nervous before we arrived but whatever was said or done soon settled her nerves."
"Just wanted to email to say thank you so so much for arranging such a fantastic competition yesterday. It was so well run and so much effort to make it work so well from you all."

Cheerleading is one of the fastest growing sports in the country, with over 89,000 athletes across the UK. It is a high energy, team-based sport incorporating gymnastics, acrobatics and dance. Cheerleading is built across 7 levels and teams compete against each other in regional, national and international competitions. Routines include jumps, standing and running tumbling, stunting, pyramids and dance.
Allstar Heroes has been going for 9 years and are delighted to be offering Athletes from The Vault the chance to be a part of their very first Cheerleading team. We are firm believers that anyone can become a fantastic Cheerleader if they have passion, work hard and bring their personality to training. We take on athletes of all abilities from beginners to experienced athletes, anyone can be a Hero.
**Book a place on our free introductory workshop on Thursday 19th August 7 - 8.30pm. Classes start Thursday 26th August**
TeamGym is a fast paced and exciting discipline developed in Europe where teams compete on floor, trampette/trampette vault and Tumble in Men’s, Women’s and mixed categories. Being part of a team is a great way to enjoy gymnastics in a fun and supportive environment. It is unique in that each gymnast follows quickly behind each other known as streaming, and the floor is performed as a synchronised group dance.
Our TeamGym instructor Jenny says: "TeamGym provided competitive opportunities for me long after I thought I’d retired from gymnastics, culminating in a trip to the European Championship in Denmark, but most importantly a fun training regime with good friends. I am excited to introduce these opportunities to a new generation of gymnasts here at Carterton and hope you will enjoy it as much as I did."

The Vault is open!!
April 12th 2021
It has been years in the planning, but thanks to the incredible hard work of Debbie and her team of volunteers, The Vault opened its doors today to welcome our gymnasts, both existing and new.
Debbie was surprised yesterday with a small opening ceremony to mark the occasion and was presented with a beautiful oak desk, inlaid with The Vault logo, hand-made by Wayne one of our very talented gym parents.
A purpose built venue has been Debbie's dream for the last 30 years and today is a very special day for all of those involved. The Vault will provide the perfect home for Carterton Gymnastic Club and will be here serving the people of Carterton and surrounding areas for years to come.
Well done and a massive thank you to everyone involved. Without everyone's contribution, no matter how big or small, we could not have done this!
Our new kit is being installed
March 17th 2021
We could not be more excited!
By the end of this week all the kit will be installed in our main gym. So far we have two vaults, a floor, the rings, pommel horse, a mushroom and the competition A bars! Lots and lots still to go. Big thank you to the RAF guys who helped get the rings up today. What will tomorrow bring?
12th April HERE WE COME!
February 23rd 2021
Today was a HUGE day for Carterton Gymnastic Club as our brand new kit was delivered on site at The Vault.
The timing was perfect, having found out last night that we would be able to open on the 12th April and welcome all our gymnasts, both existing and new, to this wonderful place.
It has taken 3 years of hard work, blood, sweat and tears, and an amazing team of volunteers to get to this point and we are so excited about what the future holds for the club and The Vault.
We have a very busy last few weeks to get everything ready but can't wait to get those doors open. See you then!
It’s been all hands-on deck, and the walls are flying up!
January 18th 2021
Debra and a team of volunteer builders and labourers have worked incredibly hard for the last couple of weekends creating our toilets, office spaces and kitchen. All the internal walls should be completed next weekend and then it is time for the ceilings to go on!
It is incredible to finally see the dream taking shape, and we are very grateful for the hard work and dedication of our volunteers. This is going to be such a fabulous space to train and socialise in and we can’t wait to see it full of gymnasts and members of the local community.
Want to get involved? Email us or give us a ring. We also still need help with finances for, or donations of, office and IT equipment, kitchen equipment, a mobile lifting hoist to assist disabled participants and a folding electric changing table.
Book your gymnastics class now! Places are filling up fast
January 4th 2021
Work is progressing well in The Vault and we would like to say a big thank you to the amazing volunteers who have given up their time at weekends and over the holiday to come and paint walls in gym two. It is looking wonderful.
The electricians and plumbers are back in today working hard to fit lights and run pipework, and the toilet and office walls have been set out ready for building.
We have now opened up our booking system to the general public and places are filling up fast. If you haven't yet booked your place, please book now to avoid disappointment.
It really is such a great club to be a part of with so many people offering time and skills to help us achieve this wonderful facility for the community. We still have lots to do though, so if you can offer time, materials or construction skills please let us know. Thank you to all the Carterton Gymnastic Club members who have put their hearts and souls into this and deserve the very best facility to train in.
NEW! Comets Disability Gymnastics Class.
December 17th 2021
We are delighted to announce that The Vault will be running a brand new class for disabled participants who need to attend with a carer/supporter.
Our Comets class starts in January and runs on Saturday mornings from 11.30—12.30.
At The Vault, we are very keen that every person, whatever their ability or disability is able to benefit from access to the wonderful sport of gymnastics. From fundamental movement activity to elite gymnastics skills, disability gymnastics has something exciting, fun and engaging for everyone to enjoy.
The benefits to participants are far-reaching, with individuals not only increasing co-ordination and strength but also self-belief, perseverance and confidence. It provides an opportunity to step out of the comfort zone and be challenged in a safe environment, with coaches who are there to enable you to achieve your full potential. Our focus is on what you can do, not on what you can't.
We currently have almost 100 young people with a wide variety of special needs, from autism to Angelman syndrome, participating in our mainstream classes, with some extra help from our coaches. However our Comets class will focus on those with more severe disabilities who need to attend with a carer/supporter.
With a maximum of 6 participants (plus carers) in the class, the sessions can be tailored to the needs of the individuals.
Give us a call on 01993 870778 to find out more and discuss your individual needs. You can pay individually for the first two sessions, without making a further commitment, to see if the class is right for you.
Have a look at our disability page to find out more about the facility and what we offer.
Medals For CGC As We Host Our First County Level Competition!
November 14th 2021
CONGRATULATIONS to our squad gymnasts!
On the 14th November we hosted our first ever County Level competition in our new home, The Vault. The day saw seven clubs from across Oxfordshire compete in the Individual Apparatus Competition. 10 girls from Carterton competed against gymnasts from Wantage, Abingdon, Vision, Cherwell, Kennylands and Grove & Didcot, and came away with quite a medal haul.
Juliet, Lydia, Anabel and Baileigh all competed in round two with Lydia gaining Bronze on beam for the 9 to 10 age group and Baileigh and Anabel gaining joint silver on floor in the 11+ age group. Lola, Nia, Lily, Chloe, Jessica and Martha competed in round three. In the 12+ age group, Lola came away with gold on beam and bronze on floor and Lily took silver on floor and bronze on bars and beam. In the 10 to 11 age group, Chloe came away with gold on floor, bars and vault and Jessica gained silver on vault.
It was a tremendous day and the girls really did the club proud. The brand-new venue worked really well as a competition space and we would like to say a big thank you to the volunteers and staff who ensured the day ran smoothly and was a big success.

British Gymnastics to use The Vault as best practise case study for expansion and disability
August 14th 2021
We were delighted to welcome to The vault the CEO of British Gymnastics, Alastair Marks, and their Participation Director David Marshall, to see our new venue and all the hard work that has gone into creating it.
They were keen to hear our feedback on subjects such as membership, award schemes and courses and to use us as a sounding boards for issues clubs may encounter.
The feedback we received was incredibly positive and British Gymnastics have chosen to use The Vault as a best practice case study for club expansion and disability and described the club as ambassadors for the sport of gymnastics.
It was a pleasure to host them both and we look forward to inviting them back again in the future.

The countdown is on!
March 10th 2021
It's was another busy weekend at The Vault, and our raised platform for tumbling and vaulting into the pits is now built, carpeted and looking fabulous, ready for the kit to be installed next week.
We want to give a massive shout out to all the amazing volunteers who have been sacrificing their weekends to help us. We would not be doing this without you.
Special mentions go to Barry from ACE Training who has volunteered his time and expertise every weekend for months to get the raised platform constructed, the offices and toilets built and the ceilings on and boarded. A couple of his staff have also been in working hard alongside Barry as well as fitting our many doors. Still more to do, but you'll be able to put your feet up soon Barry! Also Colin, one of our coaches and adult gymnasts, who has worked really hard throughout this build process - thank you! Another mention goes to Paul of Affinity Structures for not only making sure everything we build is safe and up to standard, but also getting stuck in every weekend with a variety of tasks. We have had some wonderful help from our younger gymnasts too, who have spent hours painting and cleaning and generally helping out with great enthusiasm. Not to forget our wonderful director, Debra, who has been there from start to finish every single weekend, getting everyone organised and getting stuck into all the tasks, from painting and bricklaying, to laying carpet and the seemingly endless task of cleaning.
There are too many amazing people to mention everyone by name, but we are incredibly grateful to every single person who has given up their time to come and help. We are so proud of our gym family!
Major progress with the build! Lighting and heating on and the raised platform is being built.
February 15th 2021
We are so excited to announce that we now have heating, lighting, hot and cold running water and toilets in The Vault! The ceilings are on in the offices, kitchen and toilets and most of the walls are now painted.
Our amazing team of volunteers spent another long weekend working in The Vault, cleaning, painting and building. Huge progress was made building the raised platform for the main gym and underneath it hides a secret treasure trove of artwork, poems, pictures and quotes from our wonderful gymnasts - a snapshot of our club as we evolve.
We have been updating our supporter's page on the website, and it is a real testament to the support and generosity of the individuals and companies that have pitched in to make this amazing project a reality. We are so very grateful to you all - thank you.
